La Laborde – Angels and Devils

Composer: Antoine Forqueray (1671-1745)

Antoine Forqueray’s suites for viola da gamba were published by his son Jean-Baptiste, because the irascible French master despised writing music down. Our series of pieces by the devil begins with an allemande called La Laborde, a viola da gamba piece also published at the time for solo harpsichord.
