Gigue (Suite à deux violes en re mineur, Ier livre, 1686) – Angels and Devils

Composer: Marin Marais (1656-1728)

The gigue, a very fast dance with a triple subdivision of the beat and of Irish origin, is the most common closing movement in Marin Marais’s suites for viola da gamba. Bach would also place it as an important dance at the end of his suites.
