Xácaras & Folías – Rediscovering Spain

Composer: Anonymous & Fahmi Alqhai

Many anonymous 17th-century sources include jácaras and folías, two of the best-known dances of the 17th century, whose fame outlived their time – particularly that of the folía, on which famous composers such as Vivaldi, Marais and Corelli wrote variations. Accademia del Piacere collects and reinterprets the Spanish originals of the 17th century.
