Composer: Gaspar Sanz (1640-1710) & Fahmi Alqhai
The Aragonese Gaspar Sanz is probably the composer who did most to establish the guitar as a respectable instrument in the 17th century. Until then it had been regarded as a common instrument; his three-volume treatise is an impressive collection of pieces, mainly Spanish, that inspired generations of guitarists and composers. From among them, Accademia has chosen his marionas and canarios to perform as an ensemble.
