Spain on Fire

Physical CD

The rise and splendour of the Spanish Empire in the 16th and 17th centuries spread Spain’s cultural richness and diversity throughout the world, embracing musical traditions whose roots blended Christian, Muslim, Jewish and American influences. This transformed cultural and musical trends across Europe. The original scores were mere skeletons, to which musicians added a wide variety of personal interpretations: arrangements, glosas and a whole world of ornamentation. Accademia del Piacere and Fahmi Alqhai have spent years working on this Spanish approach, aiming to revive this spirit through improvisation and so bring this music back to life.

On sale since March 2025 for just €19.90, including shipping anywhere in the world, with booklet notes in English, German, French and Spanish.
