Taking this piece from the Colombina together with Commo no le andare yo<\/em>, we can follow the journey of the word \u201cvillancico\u201d: from denoting pastoral works with a rustic (\u201cvillano\u201d) setting, it came to mean Christmas songs, like this charming piece devoted to the motherhood of the Virgin Mary. Like other villancicos of the period, both pieces share a similar form, including a short choral refrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
