Buzurg pishrow (excerpt) – De Sevilla a Isfahán
Composer: Dimitrie Cantemir (1673-1723)
The enlightened Moldavian prince Dimitrie Cantemir is one of the most fascinating figures of his time: he was a distinguished composer, historian and linguist, among his many other accomplishments. He transcribed hundreds of musical works and was a leading theorist of Ottoman music; he also wrote a celebrated History of the Growth and Decay of the Ottoman Empire. In 1714 he was made a member of the Royal Academy of Berlin.
