Frequently praised for the purity and luminosity of her voice, the naturalness and emotional power of her singing and the elegance of her phrasing, Nuria Rial has been one of the defining voices of the Baroque and Classical repertoire in Europe in recent years. Her work centres on the concert hall and the recording studio (she has released more than thirty albums and has been an exclusive SONY Classical artist since 2009), but her broad artistic interests also include exploring musical fusions with styles such as jazz and flamenco, dialogue with other disciplines, and opera. She has performed at theatres such as La Monnaie, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Teatro Real in Madrid. Trained in Basel with Kurt Widmar, she appears regularly at Europe’s leading concert halls and festivals, such as the Salzburger Festspiele, the Lucerne Festival and the
Bachfest Leipzig, with conductors such as Antonini, Capuano, Currentzis, Fischer, Goodwin, Hengelbrock, Jacobs, Minkowski and Pinnock. She is also regularly in demand among ensembles such as Accademia del Piacere, Bach Stiftung St. Gallen, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Café Zimmermann, Concerto Köln, Il Giardino Armonico, Il Pomo d’Oro,
Kammerorchester Basel, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and The English Concert. Her extensive discography, which also includes albums on labels such as Harmonia Mundi France and Erato, has earned her awards such as the Orphée d’Or, as well as several ECHO Klassik and OPUS KLASSIK awards in different categories, including “Young Female Artist of the Year” (2009) and the award for best opera recording for her Telemann CD. In 2020**,** she received the OPUS KLASSIK award for “Best Solo Vocal Recording” in the opera category for her album Muera Cupido, recorded with Fahmi Alqhai and Accademia del Piacere.
