Dani de Morón

Dani de Morón is one of the most acclaimed flamenco guitarists of the  last few decades. Among other awards, he has received two  Giraldillos at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, and a Latin Grammy  nomination in 2018 for Best Flamenco Album  for his album 21.

He took up the guitar in the flamenco town of  Morón de la Frontera, in the province of Seville, where Diego del Gastor had established a strong guitar tradition. He honed his skills accompanying  dancers at the academy of the Triana-born maestra Matilde Coral and  singing alongside the leading flamenco singers and dancers on today’s flamenco scene. He has been a regular accompanist to  artists of the calibre of José Mercé, Antonio Canales, Manuela  Carrasco, Joaquín Grilo, Arcángel, Concha Buika and Paco de Lucía himself, with whom he played several concerts on the  “Cositas Buenas” tour, after the maestro noticed the young guitarist’s virtuoso qualities, which would finally catapult him to  the international front rank of contemporary guitar.

Restlessness,  encounter and exchange with other sounds and instruments from  music beyond flamenco are constants in his development as an artist, especially his  connection with jazz.

His discography includes the albums Cambio de  sentido (2012), El sonido de mi libertad (2015), 21 (2018) and the more  recent Creer para ver, premiered live at the Bienal de  Flamenco de Sevilla in 2020. In 2022, he presented Carte Blanche, a solo concert format, at the Festival de Nîmes.

In September 2022 he had a major presence at the  Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, with several top-level  collaborations, with artists such as Rosario la Tremendita and  Accademia del Piacere, and his own project with the Cádiz  flamenco singer Antonio Reyes.

In January 2024 he released his fifth studio album,  Empatía, on streaming platforms and began a national and  international tour with it.
