Francisco Javier Núñez

Francisco Javier Núñez has been described by specialist critics as a virtuoso harpsichordist, extraordinarily expressive and gifted with a particular sensitivity for
ornamentation. He currently pursues an intense career both as a soloist and as a continuo player. He has given harpsichord recitals at
festivals of the calibre of Oude Muziek Utrecht, FeMAS in Seville, Alte Musik live in Berlin and the International Festival “Harpsichord, live art” in Belgrade.

As a member of Accademia del Piacere, as well as of other leading early music ensembles, Núñez has performed on the most prestigious stages around the world. Highlights include projects with Asier Polo and Lina Tur Bonet, as well as with the Skálholt Quartet (led by Jaap Schröder) and the OBS (Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla). He has also been invited as a soloist by the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (conducted by Vittorio Ghielmi), the Simfònica de les Illes Balears and the Kammersveit Reykjavíkur in Iceland.

Núñez has made numerous recordings, both for radio (RNE, Iceland’s RÚV, Austria’s Ö1 and Germany’s WDR3) and for the labels Arcana (his solo CD BACH AFFECTUS, a personal selection of some of the most emotive harpsichord pieces composed by J.S. Bach), Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Challenge Records,
Passacaille, Pan Classics, Carpe Diem, Rubicon Classics, Dux (in a duo with harpist Sara Águeda, STRAVAGANZA, which reinterprets Italian music from between 1500 and 1700), Glossa and Cantus (his first solo recording, À MODO ITALIANO, with 16th- and 17th-century Neapolitan harpsichord music).
