La Sablonara – La Sablonara
Gaspar Sanz (1640 – 1710) – Fahmi Alqhai
A slow, solemn dance typical of the Baroque, noble and ceremonial in character. Its writing highlights melodic elegance and harmonic balance. It evokes the refined, contemplative atmosphere of the court.
World premiere of the La Sablonara programme at the Utrecht Early Music Festival, based on the palace songbook of the Royal Chapel at the Madrid court, compiled for the Count of Neuburg during his stay in Madrid at the court of Philip IV around 1625.
